How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear plastic aligner trays to slowly shift teeth into optimal alignment. It’s a wonderful alternative to metal braces and expands your options when it comes to straightening your smile. 

All orthodontic treatment relies on creating gentle pressure to gradually change the position of your teeth within the underlying bone. With metal braces, those forces are created with small metal brackets affixed to the front side of each tooth, and treatment wires that connect those brackets. Changing to a new wire creates new pressure, moving treatment forward. 

With Invisalign, pressure is created by wearing clear plastic aligner trays that snap over the surface of your upper and lower teeth. Advanced intraoral imaging allows the lab to craft aligners that fit the contours of your teeth perfectly. 

Every time you switch to a new set of aligners, that pressure continues, bringing you one step closer to your enhanced smile. Invisalign also simplifies dental hygiene while in treatment, as you can brush and floss normally without dealing with brackets and wires. 

What kinds of alignment problems can Invisalign correct?
